Fall is here in Oregon, and that means that Hood River apples and pears are in season! On Columbus Day the Noems and I took a trip to the Hood River Fruit Loop and did some apple picking at the Mountain View Orchards.
Along with the apple picking, Simon and Lucy had the chance to feed a few of the animals . . .
. . . and watch the local workers make home-made apple cider:
Back home in Portland, the Noems hosted Kristina and me for dinner, and dessert featured two delicious apple pies that Josh had baked with the apples we picked.
We also made were sure to buy plenty of extra baking apples for an evening of pork-and-apple pie with Ken Hallanius and crew! More on that later.
