Rocco (and the Associated Press) is reporting that tomorrow morning the Holy Father will name Archbishop Timothy Dolan of Milwaukee as the tenth Archbishop of New York, replacing the retiring Cardinal Edward Egan.
This will (and should) be a source of great rejoicing for the people, and especially the priests of New York. Though I've not yet had the pleasure of meeting Archbishop Dolan, his reputation is simply sterling. I was also very much impressed with a collection of lectures he gave on the priesthood while serving as Rector of the North American College in Rome.
Stick with Rocco for the best reporting of this unfolding story . . . and if it all comes to pass, say a prayer for New York's new Archbishop!
