This weekend I covered four Masses between Holy Redeemer and the Madeleine Parish, where a new pastor will arrive in the next week. It was nice to have the chance to celebrate the Solemnity of St. Peter and St. Paul on a Sunday . . . and people seemed interested in the Pauline Year that began on Sunday.
It was HOT here in Portland this weekend . . . 100 degrees on Saturday! But thankfully, unlike good ole South Bend, there's hardly any humidity here, so it really is bearable in the end.
After a long Sunday morning, I got in the car and headed to the Oregon coast (seen above from Ecola State Park) with Gerry Olinger. We had typical Oregon-coast-in-June weather on Monday, which is to say 63 and cloudy . . . but then made up for it on Tuesday with a beautifully sunny day. It was a nice little respite after a busy weekend . . . and at the start of a month that will see me here by myself at the parish for most of the month.
