West Side Story

A couple of our Old Collegians have come to the plains of Northern Indiana from more southernly environs, including Texas and Arizona. One of the things they most miss from home is authentic Mexican and Tex-Mex food. Luckily, like most other moderately sized northern cities, South Bend has a significant Mexican population - so the West side of South Bend boasts several restaurants where these cravings can be sated.

On Monday evening, after our normal Old College Mass, I joined a number of our men on an excursion to one of these restaurants, recommended to us by Fr. Chris Cox, csc the pastor of St. Adalbert's Parish on the West side.

Nothing fancy here - but there were certainly bountiful burritos, enchiladas, and tacos. There was even Mexican Coca Cola, which I consider superior to our own version as it is made with pure cane sugar. In the midst of the hectic rush toward the end of the semester, this was a nice way to relax and enjoy some truly "southern" comfort food!
