This morning, after celebrating Mass here at Holy Redeemer, I concelebrated the Opening of the School Year Mass at Central Catholic High School. Portland's wonderful Archbishop John Vlazny was the principal celebrant and homilist, and there were about twenty of us concelebrating.
Holy Redeemer has a very large number of young parishioners and school alumni who currently attend Central Catholic - including a number of our most active young adults and almost all of my Confirmation class from last year. It was a pleasure to see them at Mass and to be back in the halls of a Catholic high school. It brought back fond memories of St. Joseph by-the-Sea . . . which I learned today is atop the NYC High School football rankings! Go Vikings!
