On this Labor Day holiday the University of Portland's women's soccer team hosted the defending National Champion and number-one ranked team from USC - the University of Spoiled Children.
Ever excited by the opportunity to cheer against any team from USC, the Noems and I decided that we would attend the game and round out the experience by having a tailgate party beforehand.
We had a great little lunch of fried chicken, chips, brownies, and root beer. Then we cheered the Lady Pilots onto victory!! It was a most exciting game. Though the Pilots out-played the enemy the entire game, the score was tied at 0 at the end of regulation. But in the first period of sudden-death overtime the Lady Pilots took advantage of an excellent centering pass and some confusion in front of the USC goalie and snuck a ball into the net. GOOOOOOAL!
