Finally!!

Winter in Portland is rarely severe and this year was no exception. We had no measurable snow at all, and we even avoided the ice-storm that usually comes our way once or twice a winter. But what this winter lacked in strength it made up for in duration. Even native Portlanders have been complaining that the cool, gray, wet weather has held steady much, much longer than usual this year. So, when the temperatures climbed into the seventies yesterday AND today people breathed a sigh of relief. Spring, it seems, is finally here.

Since Monday is my day off, I took the chance to get out and about in the good weather. After running a few errands around town, I went down to Tom McCall State Park along the Willamette River in the heart of downtown Portland. With the good weather, and Portland's Cinco de Mayo Festival bringing people to the waterfront it was a great afternoon for soaking in the sun and people watching.
